What is the difference between rear and front mounted child bike seats?

Front-mounted child bike seats attach to the handle bars, bike stem, or top bar on the bike frame. This allows the child to be positioned in front of your body. Rear-mounted seats can be attached to the bike frame under the seat post or to a cargo rack.

What is the difference between frame and rack mounted options?

Are there any safety differences between the frame and rack mounted options?

No. Both mounting options are tested and certified through the EN and ASTM standards. The frame mount does have more movement as the suspension is provided through the bar. The suspension on the rack-mounted seat is provided through springs in the carrier adapter.

How old does my baby need to be to ride in a child bike seat?

Hamax recommends that your baby is a minimum of 9 months old to ride in a child bike seat. This is the average age at which a child can support their own neck and head. If you have any concerns, please consult your pediatrician for further information.

How big can my child be to ride in a child bike seat?
